individual health insurance
Health insurance doesn't differ much from a family plan
in terms of the basic services that are offered. The most obvious difference is that you are paying to insure one person, instead of paying to insure many
people, such as in the case of family plans. Family life isn't for everyone, however, and
people living alone still require and deserve health
care like everyone else. Although these insurance plans are cheaper than family
plans for the obvious reason that you are paying to cover fewer people, will often have less
services or bonus features available. However, the default coverage remains the same. The only
real difference between individual and family health care is simply the number
of people accounted for within the respective plans.
The following are examples of just a few things you should consider before investing in an individual health insurance policy:
- Determine which of the 4 categories of health insurance best fits your needs.
- If a PCP is required for you policy, make sure the network contains a PCP whom you approve of prior to signing up.
- How do the costs and/or features of 1 provider's individual healthcare insurance plans compare with those of other providers who serve your area? What are the pros & cons of each?
- How does an individual health insurance policy compare with other types of health insurance such as group insurance or family insurance?
